So Long 2020

 One's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.
~ Henry Miller

Merry Christmas 2020!

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Happy Sunday

 God never said "understand me!", but He said "Trust Me!".

Happy Sunday

“God, send me anywhere, only go with me.

Lay any burden on me, only sustain me.

And sever any tie in my heart

except the tie that binds my heart to Yours.”

 ~ David Livingstone

Simply Trust Him

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding,

in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

The courage to keep on keeping on....

Start everyday with the awareness that God is with us today and  we have the strength of God to face anything, everything, anybody and everybody no matter what the situation is because it is not our strength but God's - the divine energy of God within us.

You know those things that have pinged you?

Those gifts that are beautiful?

Those countries and people who are most important to you?

The God you love?

Keep moving toward those.

 A Life-Lesson

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
But childish troubles will soon pass by. --
There! little girl; don't cry!

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your slate, I know;
And the glad, wild ways
Of your schoolgirl days
Are things of the long ago;
But life and love will soon come by. --
There! little girl; don't cry!

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your heart I know;
And the rainbow gleams
Of your youthful dreams
Are things of the long ago;
But Heaven holds all for which you sigh. --
There! little girl; don't cry!

Favorite book of the Month, July 2020

 “If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I’m not interested in or open to your feedback. There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their lives but who will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgment at those who dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism, and fear-mongering. If you’re criticizing from a place where you’re not also putting yourself on the line, I’m not interested in what you have to say.”

Best Friend

 I used to think God wouldn't talk to me,

but now I know I'm just selective with what I choose to hear.

Trust

 Jesus' disciples saw joy and suffering, triumph and tragedy,

and in the end there was just a man, an idea, and an invitation without a lot of details.

The disciples were unschooled and ordinary, like all of us.

Yet they didn't need all the details because they were on an adventure with a Father

who wanted to take them.

You don't need to know everything when you're with someone you trust.

Love

Love...always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

Heavenly Father

You don't need a lot of details or luggage or equipment,
just a willingness to go into a storm with a Father who's
kicking footholds into the steep sides of our problems while
we kick a couple in ourselves too.

He guides us into those footholds with His strong hands while we're
safely tethered to Him by a bright red rope of grace,
which holds us securely.

Hello August 2020!

Jesus doesn't invite us on a business trip.
Instead, He says let's go after those things that inspire and
challenge you and let's experience them together.

"There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being apologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty." - Steve Maraboli

  • Relationships are easier when your peace belongs to you and not the person that you are with.
  • Don't be so Laser-Focused on getting married one day that you don't enjoy today.
  • Only date your ideas, never marry them. That way, when a new and better one comes along, you can trade up without doing a whole lot of emotional paperwork.
  • The world is your classroom. Learn everything you can. You can know how close your are to finding that one thing you can do that will make you shine.
  • You have been created in the image of God and are, therefore, majestic in His likeness.
  • If knowledge is power (which it is), then self-knowledge makes you Superwoman. Don't get mad at someone who is trying to help you put on your cape.
  • Take a bow every time you make one step towards Better Than Yesterday.
  • If you are going to be an individual...which I am begging you to do...your beliefs cannot be so fragile that you feel threatened if others don't share them. I know, it's hard to be the only one traveling north in a crowd that's heading south.
  • An individual. An intellectual army of one. A woman who does not have all the answers but who is always looking.
  • If you do your best...if you go beyond what's expected...if you bring your own symphony of ideas, you never know who might hear your music and give you a chance at more.
  • A life well lived is about far more than money, profession or relationships status. They are important, no doubt, but they are not everything. Work is essential; it's how you eat. And if you are lucky, one day your joy and your job will converge in such a way that your work barely feels like it. If things go well, you will also live in a place you like with people you love. But, as you work to get those things, I want you to have access to daily contentment, sprinkled liberally with moments of outright joy.
  • You can hold the whole world in your hands if you pick up enough books. They allow you to climb into other people's heads. They expose you to diverse ideas. They deliver up history, and once you know enough of that, it is easier to understand what's happening now because you have read about something similar that's happened before. We are great with technological advances, but emotionally we are pretty basic. Facts get pummeled by our feelings regularly. Both individuals and societies do the same wrong things a lot.

Happy New Year 2020!

Isaiah 43:18-19

"Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
